Faster Access to Money: Pesalink Partners with Mwalimu National

27 October 2025 | Nairobi, Kenya – Integrated Payment Services Limited (IPSL), operators of Pesalink, and Mwalimu National DT SACCO (Mwalimu National) have announced a partnership to power instant and affordable account-to-account payments for SACCO members across Kenya.

Mwalimu National members now send and receive money instantly through Pesalink Send, with transfers of up to KES 999,999 processed any time through the MwalimuHela App, Members portal and USSD. Sky World Limited, the technical service provider for Mwalimu National DT SACCO, supported the integration. The upgrade improves how teachers, public and private sector workers and MSMEs linked to schools manage their daily finances, including loan disbursements, school fees, rent and business payments.

Pesalink Send supports members with reliable payment uptime, instant transaction speed and cost-efficient transfers, reducing dependency on cash handling and manual processes.

This move builds on Mwalimu National’s strategic focus on digitising services, enabling faster payouts and easier repayments. Payments now reflect immediately across both SACCO and bank systems, which improves the member experience and helps SACCO staff with reconciliations.

“Mwalimu National members deserve fast service with no delays. By integrating to Pesalink, we deliver reliable access to money when members need it,” said Kenneth Odhiambo, Chief Executive Officer, Mwalimu SACCO. “Teachers support the country every day. This partnership supports them with simple financial access.”

“This partnership highlights the practical impact of real-time payments. Members get instant access to loans and savings from the SACCO, any time,” said Gituku Kirika, CEO, IPSL. “Fast, affordable movement of funds supports financial progress for workers and businesses connected to education.”

Payments via Pesalink Send enable teachers and salaried workers to handle urgent expenses and family needs without waiting for branch hours. MSMEs linked to schools and local communities can benefit from smoother client and supplier payments.

By integrating with the Pesalink network, Mwalimu National can streamline its own operations with automated loan disbursements and faster internal settlement – which reduces queues, manual work and reconciliation issues. Staff can now spend more time supporting members.

The signing event in Nairobi brought together leadership from Mwalimu National and IPSL. Both organisations reaffirmed their commitment to financial access and digital adoption for Kenya’s education workforce.

The national digital payments market continues to expand as more workers and SMEs adopt real-time rails for daily transactions. The partnership strengthens interoperability, giving SACCO members access to fast and affordable payments across all major banks in Kenya.
