Why We Move Different
Many Kenyans already use Pesalink, often without knowing it. They access it passively through their bank, enjoying instant, cost-effective, and reliable payments, but without understanding what sets us apart. That’s why we launched the “We Move Different” campaign.
Closing the Awareness Gap
Based on research into how Kenyans choose payment options, the campaign highlights a key insight: Pesalink is powerful but often unseen. Our goal is to make Pesalink visible, relatable, and part of everyday life.
Instant payments are the backbone of commerce. In Kenya, we enable instant bank-to-bank transfers with over 98% success, serving more than 80 financial institutions. By being present when money moves, we’re showing the future of payments: fast, trusted, and inclusive. We’re not following trends—we’re setting the pace.
A major finding in our research is that 23.5% of users didn’t know they use Pesalink. That shows we need to do more to close the awareness gap. This campaign focuses on clearing up misconceptions (Pesalink works for both large and small transfers), using clear language, and connecting with everyday Kenyans—from employees to business people, farmers to families. We want people to choose Pesalink actively, helping them shift from cash-heavy to cash-light living.
Our research shows what users value most: speed, ease, and trust. 76.5% use us for instant transfers, 57.7% fully trust us, and banks remain the main way people discover Pesalink.
Still, many people think we’re only for big transactions. Pesalink is perfect for everyday needs—sending fare, paying fees, supporting suppliers, or for simple bank to bank transfers. That’s why our campaign highlights real-life moments. We move different, no matter the amount.
Our impact is seen in the lives we touch – SMEs keeping goods flowing, students getting support, farmers paid instantly, and families helping each other. Through TikTok, Meta, LinkedIn, and our partner banks, we’re sharing these stories. Financial inclusion in payments isn’t just a concept – it gets real when money moves at life’s pace.
Collaboration for Growth
Our strength is in working together. With more than 113 million bank accounts (CBK, 2024) in Kenya, the rails are strong, but visibility depends on our partners. That’s why we’re inviting banks and financial institutions to join us in a united push. Together, we can make Pesalink the go-to choice for everyday money movement. This isn’t just our campaign. It is a shared effort to show how we all move different.
“We Move Different” connects our strengths—speed, trust, reliability—with the visibility challenge we uncovered. The future of payments is a shared responsibility. By joining forces, banks, partners, and consumers, we strengthen trust, expand access, and move Kenya toward a faster, more inclusive payment system.
